Debashis Acharya is a medical graduate (MBBS) from N.R.S. Medical College, Kolkata under the aegis of Calcutta University, India. He subsequently worked as a Casualty Medical Officer at the Holy Family Hospital, New Delhi for two years before joining the stream of otorhinolaryngology. He is passionate about otorhinolaryngology (ENT), being more than 30 years in the field including his training period from the prestigious Army Hospital (Research & Referral) affiliated to the University of Delhi, India from where he obtained his Masters in Surgery (MS) degree in otorhinolaryngology. He is an ex- Indian Army Medical Corps (AMC) officer (Lieutenant Colonel) and has served as ENT specialist in the Indian Armed Forces for approx. 12 years until 2008 when he left the services. He has worked as Medical Superintendent at a private Medical College Hospital in Western India after that for almost one year. 

He also holds a First Class Masters’ degree in Hospital Administration & Healthcare Management from the International Symbiosis University, Pune, India. Subsequently, he held the appointment of Head of Department (HOD) & associate professor at Ahmedabad, India for about two years before moving to Qatar in 2011. Presently, he is working as a consultant ENT at PHCC (Primary Health Care Corporation), Govt. of Qatar since 2014. His academic articles have been published in various foreign ENT journals and he is also honorary editor of four such publications. He has been member of the organizing committees and has been chairman of various international ENT conferences across the Gulf region, India, UK, Singapore, France, Spain & Italy to mention a few. He is an avid COVID worker & has been honored by the Govt. of Qatar & Anbar Medical University, Iraq. His research article on COVID has been published by a high indexed journal, appreciated internationally, received multiple citations & has been sent with recommendation to WHO for further academic research on COVID. 

Acharya is also the secretary of the Indian Society of Otolaryngologists–Qatar chapter. The doctor is adept at handling / treating all types of ENT cases in the pediatric, adult and geriatric populations with ease & much success. His flair for teaching and training students is great due to his excellent communication skills & command over the subject. He has also authored five chapters in different Post Graduate Family Medicine books published internationally. His research Interestis mainly focused on Audio Vestibular Medicine & Rhinology. He is recipient of the ASIA RESEARCH AWARD 2024 for the best case study selected by The International Congress for Research Excellence which is his highest accolade till date.
